The In-Laws is a 2003 American comedy film directed by Andrew Fleming and co-written by Fleming and Nat Mauldin. The film stars Michael Douglas, Albert Brooks, Candice Bergen, and Ryan Reynolds.
Michael Douglas portrays Steve Tobias, a successful dentist who gets caught up in an international espionage plot when his daughter marries the son of a mysterious CIA agent. Albert Brooks plays Jerry Peyser, Steve's fiancée's father, who is a mild-mannered podiatrist. Candice Bergen plays Judy, a ruthless government agent who is involved in the plot. Ryan Reynolds plays Mark Tobias, Steve's future son-in-law who is revealed to be a CIA agent.
Other notable cast members include Lindsay Sloane as Melissa Peyser, Steve's future daughter-in-law; Maria Ricossa as Katherine Peyser, Jerry's wife; Robin Tunney as Angela Harris, Steve's ex-wife and Mark's mother; and David Suchet as Jean-Pierre Thibodoux, a French spy.
The film was a remake of the 1979 film of the same name, which starred Peter Falk and Alan Arkin in the lead roles.
